  1. Well in addition to what others already said, I imagine it would be quite hard to not take work home. Just the fact of dealing with all the craziness would be hard to forget after leaving the office.

  2. You have to deal with the crazy, the helplessly depressed, the people who pretend to be depressed for attention, and rich women with no one to talk to.

You have to hang out with the people everyone else tries to avoid.

  3. My first response is there aren't any.  I had a long and very satisfying career as a social worker in a private family service agency.

Sometimes there are tough periods when you have to face and deal with aspects of your own life which you might not have had to face in some other occupations.  At the same time this represents opportunities for personal growth which you might not otherwise have had.

SO.  I found where I belonged and I loved it.  Other people thought I was good at  it.  Great relationships with outstanding colleagues too.  I'd do it over again 'as is' in a heartbeat.

  4. People in the mental health fields have the highest rates of suicide compared to other careers.

You could be killed or beaten by clients.  Things can be thrown at you.

You could have clients obsessed with you and stalk you.

Anything else...hopes this helps.  Kind of dangerous when you think about it.
