  1. go from setting when you are standing then kneel ( this is not stopping) then do like 10 and then go on your back, then go to your knees and back up. do that over and over again

  2. In the camps that i go to they have me lay down with a partner. Have your partner drop the ball on your fingertips and then you set the ball. It helps you work on your aim. Another one is, stand along a wall and touch the volleyball back and forth on the wall. The last one is, put some tape on the wall and set it so it would help you on your aim.

    Good Luck!

  3. ok i had the exact same problem. make sure your hands are above your head, and kinda make your hands like your holding a big soda bottle and kinda use your wrist. i hope this helps! oh! you can also do wall sets, or lie down on your back and have someone stand by your head and throw the bal down to you, you set it up and the catch it. that's what i did and it all helped ALOT! =)

  4. take a basketball or a spcial designed volleyball and practice setting it to a target (basketball hoop or another person) this builds up your finger muscles

  5. You could excercise everyday by trying to do push-ups with your thumbs instead of using your hands. It hurts at first, but it worked for me.

  6. The simplest thing to do is lay back on the ground and continuously set the ball up with your hands in the 'setter's triangle' position.  Bring it down and pop it back up lightly.  It only needs to go up about 5 inches or so, and keep doing it.  It'll give you the needed soft hand touch to improve your sets.  :)

  7. When at home get a volleyball and have some one set the ball to you and then set it back to them. the person does not have to set it to you the same goes for spiking

  8. Find a wall and set agianst it until u get to ten and when u do keep improving on the number in a row.  make sure u try to set at one spot every time.

  9. when i played setter i had people toss me a ball and then i had to set to a certain spot. and it had to be perfect. and setting the ball against a wall a hundred times always helps. as long as you keep your hands on the ball, that will always help.

  10. For volleyball try-outs this year we layed on the ground and set the ball into the air for a few minutes in a row. We also walked around in a circle while setting. You can have someone toss you the ball and practice setting it to the different areas of the court. Ex. Set a 5 or a 2 or a RED or a WHITE or a BLUE. You can also buy a setters ball. They are heavier so you learn how to use your legs.

  11. Lie on the ground and set to yourself.  It's a good start to improve your hands.  Then to improve control, once you get this down, try lying on the ground setting to yourself, then stand up while still setting the ball, first couple of times the ball might fly around a little so have a bit of open space.

Setting to a wall helps a lot too, but you need a hard wall.

As far as hand shape, I like to line the insides of my hands up with the seams of the ball.

  12. wall setting is the way to go!  i became a setter this year, and after 4 weeks of it, my hands were as soft as a baby's bottom, its quick and easy.  do 100 sets but make sure you keep your hands above your head!

  13. this is a little home workout my coach taught me and it works so well. all you need is a volleyball and a wall. first start off a couple feet from the wall and use your wrists to keep the volleyball bouncing off the wall quickly(the ball should come less thatn 2 inches from the wall before you set it again) after doing that 100 times step back so you are about 5 or so feet from the wall. set against the wall ONLY using ur elbows (no wrist) do this 100 times, then you can start just setting normally against the wall. this drill really helped me hands become soft and helped me become a great ssetter. Have fun and keep playing volleyball!

  14. setting what...........the table?

  15. i would recommend that you strengthen your wrists because when your setting they can get injured easily.  you could try doing this by setting with a heavier ball and just doing the same excersizes that you were doing to practice the skills.

  16. I have all my setters take a ball home with them and set for about 5 minutes every single night.  I ask them to lay in bed on their back right before going to sleep.  I ask them to set the ball in the air for 5 contineous minutes then go to sleep.

This does 2 great things.  First it allows for 5 straight minutes of good setting (which works on control and a soft touch).  Second it lets you dream about volleyball, which is never a bad thing.

It is quick and simple and effective.  I hope it helps.

  17. Do wall sets! they are really easy set the ball to the wall it should come striaght back to you if doesn't then you aren't doing something right. this will show you if your hands are right and it will help you with control!

  18. One is to just keep setting the ball up in the air over and over, this you can do alone.

Get someone to toss the ball to you over and over so you can set it.

The important thing is keep your eyes on the ball no matter what and concentrate.
