What are some easy crochet patterns for beginners?

I'm starting a new hobby and I only know the single chain. Links would be appreciated!

You are beginning a great hobby that is relaxing and make nice things as gifts or things for yourself. Here are some learn to crochet links and I hope that I help you with this. There are also learn to crochet books at a hobby lobby.

I hope that I helped and I have taught others to crochet young and old but in person. I taught myself to crochet and knit. Remember to always have fun and practice each stitch. Start small projects then work yourself up to bigger projects like blankets and afghans.

The link below is a good starting point.  Click on the "learntocrochet" link in the left column and you will come to some quick & easy patterns as well as learn the other stitches out there.  Everything feeds off the single chain.

HINT:  Check out your local Hobby Lobby or Michael's in the yarn aisles, some have practice swatches of the various yarns so you can see how the yarn will look in a finished project.
