  1. If they're unknown, how would anyone know them?  :)

Sorry, just teasing. You might consider work-study instead of your part-time job. You'd get a tuition break, and that's worth a LOT. And stay home; don't board. That will save you an unbelievable amount of money. Take public transportation if you can - it may be a lot cheaper these days, or look into ride-sharing arrangements with other students. You might even be able to find this information on your school's website. I'm sure they have an intranet for current students, and people are always selling books and such.

I admire your work ethic; if you keep that up, it can take you very far. My husband worked 3 jobs while he was in college.

Also: buy ALL your textbooks on Amazon if you can. You'll pay a tiny fraction of what you would be charged by the campus bookstore. Buy your notebooks somewhere else when there is a sale. Bring your own snacks if you need them; our vending machine charged us $1.25 for an 8-ounce (!) bottle of water.

Use the library as much as you can, especially if you have online access. You may never again have as much FREE access to information as you can get from the library.

    Good luck to you.

  2. From your question I can tell you are looking for ways to save money for the now, so I'll make a different suggestion: depending on the type of degree you achieve and field you go into, some gov't student loans you may get can be forgiven.

  3. The most important thing is to create a budget and stick to it.

You're already living at home - that's a good start.

You don't want to be working more than 15-20 hours per week (less is better) while you're in school.  The easiest way to waste money is to sign up for a full load and then do poorly and have to drop or retake classes.

With regards to the budget...  set your priorities; be willing to sacrifice a little fun and fashion to gain a better lifestyle later on.

    Much success to you!

  4. Buy your books online like at half.com or used.  Try to always brown bag it because fast food can add up, try taking public transportation which is usually cheaper than using a car.  Use common sense about purchases and buy only the essentials.

  5. First off you need to know what you are spending your money on.. write down everything that you buy including food. When you do that figure out what the most important things are. Then figure out which are medium important and try to compromise with those. For example: You buy really good expensive things for your hair; you can try something that is cheaper and see if it gives you results. or you buy clothes and shoes like from guess and steve madden; try going to marshals and ross and get these things cheaper. You can also try buy your basics at cheap places. After you do this you need to cut down on things you dont need like for example: going to a hair salon just to blow dry your hair or buying food out when there is food at home.

You need to figure out how much you are make right now that you have 2 jobs and for example you make 2500 a month and you need like 1000 for like car insurance and other important bills add 500 to those bills and save it in the bank. Think of it as another important bill you need to pay.
