my friend needs to come up with some money by the end of this week but doesnt know how to get it because his parents don't have any money to give him and i don't either

You did not mention how much money he needs. If it is only a few dollars he could just go and knock on doors in the street near by and tell the people that he really needs to earn some money this week, and do they have a job around the home that he can do: window cleaning, mowing the lawn, just tidying up the back yard, or the shed. Most people are always willing to help and will sometimes just create a small job for him to earn the money. Remember the Boy Scout Association organises these sorts of activities during Scout Job Week and the community is very willing to help.
