  1. Read simple stories to him, play with blocks, play with any type of stacking toys or shape sorters, teach colors with any of the toys that have parts that have the primary colors at least.  At this age you can introduce the letters and numbers as well.  This is absolutely a great age for learning, the possibilities are endless.  Go online and look at the leapfrog toys.  They have some great products for teaching.  I wouldn't recommend the ones that they have to use while sitting still for long periods of time though b/c 2 year olds have a very little attention span.

  2. I have to agree with those 3 answers and would like to add a few things.... play dough!  (obviously be careful of ingesting)  You can talk about colors and it is a fun way to interact making animals and things... cook with your child they love to help and talk to them while spending time together.  Reading as mentioned above is also excellent.

There are so many books out there that have interactive things like matching and textile things that they can feel.  Play ball, go for a nature walk and talk about what you see... this will open up a chance to talk about the animals and their habitats.  You can collect leaves and note the different shapes.  For our daughter she has always been very observant so this was a great opportunity to look at the characters in the books and talk about emotions, what they are doing, why... She loves her bible stories and loves to sing and dance.  Looking back at 2 you do have tantrums but what an awesome time when they are really going to town in the communication skills!  Use that and have fun :)

  3. It depends on the intellect of the 2 year old. I have four children and each of them obtain different points of view and personality differences. One has cerebral palsy where he may understand simple instructions, my main focus is his speech; another has been clinically diagnosed with ADD, my main priority is to help assist her with comfort and encouragement to improve her behavior where she will acquire better attention; and the other two are advanced, therefore simple tasks would not work for them. For example, I could ask what shape is this to each one of my children and my responses are different- the first child may take a couple of minutes to reply, the second child with ADD may know what it is and look into space, while the other two who are over achievers my look at me as if I had lost my complete mind - possibly imply that I have, because they feel that that is beneath them. You as a parent have to determine which level of understand your child has, don' t under-estimate, bore or belittle the child. review the basics and move on.

  4. well a good thing would be block or some simple books and songs about counting to 5 or learning hi in spanish but nothing else cause at 2 years old your trying out dolls or potty training

  5. You should play simple toddler games with him/her and teach him/her the alphabet. I have a 2 year old brother and he is very smart, and he can talk better than most 4 year olds I know. So just do as I said but do it as a routine. And before he/she goes to bed you should read stories to him/her. And hey it works me and my family. So i guess it could work for you too!

  6. Talk, read, sing, dance and play with blocks, toy cars, markers, sand and water. Just have fun!

  7. Here are some ideas:

  8. easy books, easy beginning word searches with words like as, a, to, it, big and so on

  9. songs and movements, including instruments.Together with these you could do simple games like using fingerpuppets etc or show them some phonics or color/numbercards as long as it is FUN and not taking too long........otherwise they lose their interest.....and why not go outside while playing in park they see, hear and can do many things....
