  1. 1.  Increased turbidity levels in water bodies (less clear water from undissolved solids)

    2.  Landslides and weakened slopes

    3.  Loss of suitable habitat for plants

    4.  Loss of nutrients within soil

    5.  Desert like conditions if the exposed layer cant hold water after the top soil is eroded away

    6.  Loss of property

  2. Soil erosion: farm soil plus others

1— removes valuable top soil - lower yields and higher costs

2— lower depth of soil available for rooting, and water storage for crop growth

3— if already seeded then: loss of seeds, seedlings, fertilizer -  need to repeat field operations (costly); soil being washed from plant roots

4— subsoils left (after top soil gone), can't support agriculture - ground full of small rills and gullies - can't work the land

5— water erosion of soil - damage to roads and railway lines; may be deposited on other land or in water courses, rivers, lakes, estuaries; pesticides in washed into streams

6— sedimentation can causing a greater flooding downstream

7—sediment in rivers damages spawning grounds of fish

8— erosion of the side of hills - avalanches - loss of life and homes

9— underground erosion of soils - collapse of top ground

10—severe drought +winds - dust bowl  - western plains area see photos
