One of the biggest is one you don't hear as much about today-- the loss of topsoil.  Good forest loam takes generations to form (at least.  When Europeans came to America they began to cut down the forests and grow crops in that topsoil, with great success.  Overuse has cause some areas to be "farmed out", to the point nothing will grow without chemical fertilizer.  Those things cause lots of problems.  Bad farming practices lead to a lot being blown away by the wind.  The biggest culprit is water runoff carrying it away.  Both of those are forms of erosion.  The amount of topsoil going into the Gulf of Mexico is very great.  It has resulted in the death of many species of fish, etc, in what was once a prime commercial fishing area.

Global warming is causing the natural "alarm clock" that all plant life and animals listen to, to run too fast.

A Washington press release states that "the fingerprints of man-made climate change are evident in seasonal timing changes for thousands of species on Earth..."  Satellites which measure when land turns green have shown that  Spring is arriving 8 hours earlier every year since 1982, caused by global warming.

The changes could cause some animals to become extinct, because certain plants and animals depend on each other for food and shelter. If those plants bloom or bear their fruit before animals return or come out of hibernation, they could starve to death. The plants that bloom too early could also be killed out by a late freeze.

They say that it's an early warning sign that a lot of our species won't be able to handle the changes. And it isn't easy on people either, Studies show that warmer temperatures and increased carbon dioxide cause earlier, longer and stronger allergy seasons.

In nature, timing is everything. The blame lies with global warming.  And global warming is caused by people and their mis-use of our planet.
