  1. social skill, showing emotion, cognitive, motor skill. showing these things and improving on them. Also learning through song eg hygine washing hands singing washing hands song.

  2. When they come home asking you questions you cannot answer! They will tell you more than you probably want to know in many cases lol

Children love to express themselves at that age and they will want to share some of the things that they have learned. But, keep in mind that with a preschool child it will be something stimulating and not necessarily as educational, like writing, spelling or math.

They love to express themselves in drawings, painting and attempts at things like writing there name. They need lots of attention and praise. And you can be certain if they are not learning or happy, there are not getting what they need.

Take an active roll in what is going on daily. Talk to the teachers and aids, ask questions and specifically about your child. Just drop in the class room unannounced and check for yourself to see what and how they are teaching. Then check with your child. They are very honest and naive at that age. They need a lot of nurturing at that age from the parents but the teachers cannot give them the individual attention you would like as a parent..

One of the best things they learn that young is how to interact with other children, to share and be considerate of others.

  3. I assume you mean an early childhood classroom.

Children playing "house" are learning social skills, self-control, and probably fine motor control.

Helping set the table uses counting (one-to-one correspondence)

Being read to teaches language skills, pre-literacy skills, self-control, and memory.

The sandbox and playing with a ball can teach physics.

    And much much more.

  4. The child will start telling you new words, showing you new skills and letting the parent know that he wants to do things for himself. Self-sufficiency is important in the preschool years. They might start telling you words that appear on a cereal box or  on a book. They might start playing in a caring and sharing manner that was not noticed before school. Questions about his world will be in his conversations.
