What are some examples of events where the news media have misreported the event?

It could be anything from the war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, etc etc. Anything where news reported without having proper information, or just blatantly wrongly said something.

Katrina. Most of America's perception of New Orleans is very wrong, very wrong indeed. Not in a moral sense but in a factual one. I hear so many false statements about NOLA it's not even funny. The only people who seem to know the truth about us is those who live here.
