  4. The pearl is suppose to give him riches and joy but it ends up destroying his life.

    The scorpion biting the baby is a foreshadowing of how the baby will die. -not sure how much irony is in that one though.

    And I searched this question because I don't know the answer! >.<

    I thought that it might have been ironic how the baby's name means "little coyote" and he was shot because he was mistaken for one.

    OH! It might be ironic that the whole reason Kino wanted the money for the pearl was so that his son could have a good life but it ended up killing him instead. You know what I mean?

    I looked up the word "irony" though, which confused me a lot, so I may be wrong.
