  1. theres still quite a bit of segregation in the workplace. also, class related segregation is also tied into race.

  2. Reverend Wright is a perfect example.  Affirmative action, all black colleges, scholarships, beauty pageants, and organizations.

"White flight" is also a myth.  It is very well documented that middle class blacks have fled the urban environment as well.  It's one of the curious ironies of the equal housing laws.  Frankly, the more government gets involved in social policy to "fix" race relations, the worse it gets.

Race relations would be much better if all of the do-gooders and race-baiters who make a buck off of perpetuating the race issue would go find someplace to start their own moronic utopia.  Antarctica comes to mind; or San Francisco.

New info: So based on other responses, are we saying that a population group that makes up roughly 10% of society should be represented in the workplace at a level of 50% to be fair and non-racially biased?  If so, it's no wonder this race issue won't go away.

  3. I find this to be the BIGGEST example of racial segregation of all.

I am African American. I am in school and have classes with other people of color and Caucasians as well. Some of the instructors that I have pose a question and if one of us (African American) students answers and the answer is correct, some of the Caucasian students will question the validity of the answer. They'll say things like, 'Are you sure?', or 'Professor________, is that true?'

It's as if African Americans can't be right and have to be double checked.

It's just not Caucasians that do it. African Americans do it to one another as well.

In one class that I have, we have open question forums. There are 4 of us and usually participate in the discussions as well as the other students. One of 'us' has a problem believing the rest of us when we answer a question, get verification from the instructor of the question being answered correctly, but she will STILL ask one of the Causcasian students for the answer even though the Caucasian student has the answer that one of us had given!

I could go on and on, but there are so many more steps that have to be made, and I pray that I see them in my lifetime.

It just boils down to trusting someone to be right.

  4. I wouldn't say that racial segregation is as out in the open as it was 20 to 50 years ago. Now days everything (no matter how big or small) seems like it's equal, but there are still corporations that have over 50% of their employees of cacausion decent, there are still some educational institutes who's student body mass is made up of 50% + white students(thus the need for the historically black colleges), and their are still some neighborhoods that do not accept people of color living in there communities. I can honestly admit, I do not have the numbers on paper or facts writen to show you, but I'm that there are plenty of people of color who visit this forum who will be more than willing to give you an exmaple of their personal stories.

  5. whenever I go out to eat the waiter or waitress always seats people of the same race in the same area of the restaurent. (blacks close to other blacks & whites close to other whites)

  6. "White flight" has been going on since the 1950s.  This is where white, typically upwardly mobile people flee to the suburbs and leave the decaying cities to African Americans.
