  1. The density of air in the atmosphere is defined as  the mass contained in unit volume and is measured in grams per cubic centimetre. The absolute mminimum density may occur either due to exceptionally low pressure, exceptionally high temperature or a combination of both.

When the temperature rises and falls in the atmosphere, lapse rate(fall of temperature with height) changes leading to formation of low and high pressure systems.

A pressure gradient is created between a low and high pressure systems leading to flow of air(wind) from high pressure area to low pressure area.

In a region if the pressure value increses from the centre to the periphery, then it is called a low pressure system.Winds rotate in an anti-clockwise direction in low pressure area(in the N.H).On the other hand if the pressure decreases from the centre to the periphery, then that is called a high pressure system where winds blow in a clockwise direction (in the N.H).

Convection current will be present in an unstable system leading to formation of cumuliform(vertical growth more)clouds resulting in bad weather.

In a stable system in the atmosphere, convection current will be absent leading to stratiform clouds(sheet like clouds with no vertical growth) resulting in fair weather condition.

  2. Unstable air is when cold air overrides warm aire, since cold air is heavier, that is instablility,

Between low pressure and high pressure is called a pressure gradient, the tighter the gradient, the more the wind blows.

Unstable air is what I mentioned at the beginning, stable air is just the opposite, Cold air on the surface, warm air over it, it can also lead to stagnant air, which can be unhealthy if it stays long enough.

Low pressure is like a valley. Most of the time they are attributed with bad weather, but there are a few exceptions, one is a therman low, which causes heat and if you are in that area, you can expect temperatures to be very hot. High pressure is like a mountain, very nice weather can be expected.
