  1. Hooking up DVD players to receivers. Satellite box to receiver. Sub woofer connections.

    Oh and to hold my XM radio antenna to my tree. Just tie a old one around it.

  2. most commonly used for line level audio signals:

    to/from tape decks and amplifiers or receivers

    from CD players, DVD players, VCRs, etc. to amplifiers or receivers

    lower level signal lines such as from turntables also employ them.

    composite video signals also use such connectors

    found on VCR/DVD/TV (receivers may also have inputs and outputs for such video signals, but the receiver only switches between selected signals, it doesn't process the signal)

    sometimes higher level signal cables use RCA connectors, e.g. some computer speaker systems use them for connecting the speakers

  3. Turntable,CD player, VCR, Sub woofer's, Video out and in.

    Tape decks, speakers, Bi amps, mixers, cross overs.

  4. it is mainly used to interconnect (composite) video and (mono/stereo/surround) audio systems.

    ex.: vcr <---> tv
