  1. Jumping rope is one of the best ways to gain a vertical....sitting on the wall is another great way to get more muscle in you thighs.

  2. work hard on your leg strength. make your stomach muscles stronger. JUMP ROPE!!!!! i know it sounds stupid but it really does improve your jump. it also helps with timing too.

  3. Got steps in your home?

Stand on a step, with just the balls of your feet and toes on the step, and do some toe raises.  And when you get really good at them, then do them with a slight bend in your knees.  Raise up while you count to 4, and then lower yourself to the count of ten (1,2,3,4 - all the way up; 1,2,3,. . .10 - all the way down).  Strength comes with resistance - not with the weight lifted.  Also do some wall-sits - bend your legs like you are sitting, with your back against a wall.  Those two will build some strength up in your legs for better vertical.

Do you have access to some loose sand?  Jump rope in the sand.  I got the honor a few years ago to be able to work out with the women's US Olympic Volleyball team, and that was one of the workouts that they did - jump rope in the sand on the beach.  Let me tell you that it hurts - but my vertical increased 3 inches that summer!

  4. Hang from a chin up bar for as long as you can handle it, then rest, and repeat... add different leg and stomach stretches while hanging. Very much increases vertical.

20 bucks at Canadian tire or Walmart

  5. practice spike approach and blocking. trying to get higher each time

  6. I believe they call it a rack..... :)

  7. i have some jumping shoes and they are amazing!!! you can buy them at sports authority or wherever.  they work by they add extra weight to your legs, making it harder for you to jump.  if you use them every day then it will be easier to jump b/c you are so used to using those.  they are said to help your vertical sooo much.  the only problem is i can never get motivated enough to use them.

another thing is my uncle, when he was in high school, he used to jump on top of picnic tables.  he started out by jumping on the picnic benches, and then as that got easier, he jumped on the table.  he can probably jump 3 feet in the air.  it is so amazing to watch him hit.  he is also only 5'8 and plays outside on a really good team, which is really good for such a short guy.

  8. Hey,

I think some good ways to increase your vertical is to do leg squats. I know that they will be painful but if you do them it will build up your calf muscle and help you jump higher. Another you can do is to do frog jumps and be squating all the way down and then jump up (feet off the ground) and then land back in a squat. These will also build up your calves therefore helping your vertical. I hope I helped you in a great way. Bye and VOLLEYBALL ROCKS!

  9. Practice your block and approach alot.

  10. u could practice you spike approach if u know it...and if u don't its Left Right Let HIT!!! just practice that for a while, or you could jump as high as you can for a while. But if you run then jump, it would probably be better, cuz u r doing both in the game!!!!

  11. work on leg strength.
