  1. As you know, hitting a volleyball is an advanced and very technical skill requiring strength and coordination.  I think switching arms would be something that would have to be done slowly with a lot of patience.

I've never had to do it, but I love the game enough that if I ever injured my right shoulder to the point I couldn't use it anymore, I would definitely try to switch arms like you are doing.

I'm not an expert, but this is what I would try.

I think I would start by doing EVERYTHING left handed.  Start with eating, brushing your teeth, showering, raking the lawn etc.

While continuing to do everything left handed, I would start with throwing a baseball or tennis ball - slowly building up coordination and strength.

I would then switch to throwing a volleyball.

Once your throwing of a volleyball is feeling pretty good, I would switch to serving.

    Then finally hitting.

I think I would also try some visualization exercises.  Repeatedly going through the motions while visualizing yourself hitting the volleyball following through with a nice wrist snap!

Good luck, and let us know how you are doing.

  2. You should go to a wall and practice spiking the ball to the floor and letting it bounce off the wall back to you.  If you keep repeating this method without stopping and catching the ball it should make your left arm stronger.

  3. i would say hold the ball in your right hand and hit the ball from your hand so it hits the ground. you should focus on your form when you do this tooo. it works for me, because i have had the same thing happen to me.

  4. Butterflies are always good, but i would do them laying on a bench with dumb bells (dumb bell fly). gives a great workout and adds flexability for strength through the entire movement.
