  1. Hit the heavy bag. often.

  2. I think the most important exercise is push ups. You should do this frequently so that you have upper body muscle. Then you should go for sit ups. These will help you when you get hit in the stomach. I'm trying to get faster with my punches so I use the speed bag more than the punching bag. But if you want to get more power in your punches you should go for the heavy bag more than the speed bag. But I personally think that speed is a better weapon but again that is my opinion and you don't have to go along with it.

  3. Go for morning jogs.

Go to gym get some exercise

Get some boxing equipment e.g. punch bags and train on a regular basis.

  4. Conditioning is the key for any sport, especially boxing...i agree with all the above answers, but would like to include jump rope

  5. expect to do a lot of running...daily...about 5 miles per.

it begins with the feet, so footwork is very important.

    strengthen your wrists and neck.

technique and form are really important.

and continually work on hand speed.

expect to practice for about a year before you get into the ring for real. have a sparring partner who would be in the same weight class as you, and maybe one step better in skill level.

I know this isn't very helpful, but it takes a lot of dedication, heart, and discipline. good luck.

  6. You don't really need to be fit to start boxing. Coaches are happy to take on anyone at any level. You go to boxing to get fit and learn to fight not because you already are.

Forget weights and anything too tricky. just start going along to the club. Call a few tell them what you are after, which is to do boxing. There is no obligation to say you will be a fighter or whatever.

What you will usually do is train with a group of people of all levels. First thing is a run and skipping for a few rounds. Then the coach circulates giving help everyone, and starting lessons to the new guys. Then everyone splits into pairs usually to work the bag, work mitts, all to boxing round timings. You will get a chance to spar once you have picked up a few things and your fitness is okay. But there's no obligation to spar either.

If you really want to do something in the meantime just start running. Once a day for a few miles, and do a half hour of pushup/pressups and situp/crunches once a day.

  7. Well, first of all, you have to be very very fit so I'd suggest you consult a doctor first before training big time.

As for exercises, stretchings and calisthenics are good enough.  You'd surely find these exercises in most any boxing website, books or training manuals.

Weights are OK, provided you stick to moderate or not to heavy weights with high repetitions.
