  1. do alot of running, about 4 miles a day. play basketball alot but do drills that require high jumping (lay-ups, rebounding, etc.). also do calf raises where you raise to stand on your toes for a second or two then go down and u do that atleast 50 times a day.  do this every day and eventually you'll see improvment.

i'm only 5'3'' and i can reach a little over 9'6'' from doing all of that.

  2. my brother does football and he does, what he calls, toe ups. what u do it stand on a step and only have your toes on the edge. then what u do is slowly go up and down for a few minutes. it works.

  3. DO NOT DO A LOT OF RUNNING!! Running long distances trains you for endurance and not explosiveness.

You'll want to start with a squat and deadlift program to build up strength in your legs. Make sure to go down nice and low and do each rep as explosive as possible. That means use all your force on every rep, even if it's not necessary. If you've never done squats, start with just your body weight.

After you develop a strength base, start doing some light plyometric drills. If you can get your squat up to 1.5 times your body weight, you can do the most intense plyos exercises. There's good info here http://verticaljumpz.blogspot.com
