And if you have any ideas for carnival games that are fairly easy to make and do, that would be helpful too. Include directions to the games or rules too, if you know them. Our tiny town is trying to raise money for new playground equipment.

  1. The obvious Pizza party at the local Pizza Parlor.

Get the talent in your town (magicians, tarot card readers, dancers, actors, etc.) to put on a variety show.

Park BBQs with clowns and magicians and a raffle of donated items.

Add a silent auction to any of the above.

    Good luck.

  2. if your town is really tiny, you have a limited number of potential donors. you could start by asking local businesses, service clubs and families to sponsor a piece of equipment or buy a square foot of playground; they'd get their names on a plaque.

you could also look at events that will draw people from other communities nearby. your mayor could challenge the mayor from another town to some sort of competition.. fire deptartment skills, fitness chalenge, etc. you could host a basketball or golf tournament, a chili cook off - they all have entry fees. find ways to increase your donor base and you'l have more dollars.

a town i know of has a giant garage sale weekend every year. everyone in town has a garage sale, donating the proceeds to a local cause and people from all over go there to shop. there are hot dog stands, etc set up and bakes sales so that shoppers can eat. local stores and businesses tie into the weekend with specials and their advertising helps draw the crowds, too.

are there grants availble in your area? check this and other sites...
