    El Salvador Tourism -

    I.

    CULTURAL TOURS

    We will visit the Anthropology Museum David J Guzman and the art gallery of the national artist Fernando Llort, the handcraft market, historical downtown and the indigenous town of Panchimalco.

    Maya Pipil (full day)

    A visit to our indigenous past, a village covered by a volcanic eruption 1400 years ago, then we will visit the pyramids and the museum of San Andres, if you want we can have lunch at the historical downtown of Santa Ana and then we continue to Chalchuapa where we will find the most important pyramids in El Salvador “ Tazumal” and the private archaeological site “Casa Blanca” (indigo dye process ). Also we will visit Coatepeque one of the most beautiful lakes of volcanic origin.

    Joya de Ceren (American Pompeii)

    This is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in El Salvador and is the only place in the Mayan world where you can witness the normal everyday life of the Mayas. The ceremonial site of San Andrés (200AD to 900AD ). Consists of 1 Acropolis, 3 main structures one north plaza with 6 visible structures, and one at the south of the acropolis.

    Tazumal

    Ceremonial site of 10km sq., A pyramid structure, part of the pyramid is under the Chalchuapa City. Tazumal means “the place where the victims were burned”. Some of the objects found are related with the big city of Tehotihuacan in Mexico.

    Casablanca

    Located in Chalchuapa City consisting of 6 pyramids on a stone base, also at this place we can find Xiquilite. The blue plant (indigo), learn about the process and make your own design.

    Colonial

    Visit to the town of Suchitoto located 47 km northeast of San Salvador, where we will find a church from 1853, adobe houses, stone streets, colonial architecture and the Suchitlan lake enjoying a boat trip, watching a big variety of migratory birds especially from March through October. Suchitoto is one of the only towns where you can see how they make national cigars (and take some, back home).

    La Palma

    Located north of San Salvador (86km). Here we will find beautiful landscapes also beautiful handicrafts in wood, this is the home of the national artist Fernando Llort who painted the metropolitan cathedral. The name of his art is called Naif. This is the home of the school “La semilla de Dios”, a place where we will learn more about the Naif art.

    Ruta de Las Flores

    We will enjoy the western landscapes visiting the towns of Nahuizalco (traditional in craft production of indigenous origin), Juayua and Apaneca, beautiful landscapes covered with some of the best coffee. Also we will visit the archaeological site of Santa Leticia (monoliths) where we will have a chance to walk through a coffee plantation.



    II.

    ECOTOURISM IN EL SALVADOR

    Coatepeque Lake

    Coatepeque means “hill of the serpents”. Of volcanic origin, more than 50,000 years old formed by two separate eruptions, considered active by experts, Coatepeque is one of the most important lakes in El Salvador and considered on of the most beautiful in the world.

    Costa del Sol

    We will visit some of the most beautiful beaches in the country; we will enjoy one of everyone’s favorites: Costa del Sol. Next we will take an incredible boat trip to Jaltepec Bay to watch the migratory birds in the mangroves, flying fishes and see the three branches palm tree at Tasajera island where we will learn about the traditional tools and methods that the locals use to fish.

    Volcano Tours

    If you like to hike - El Salvador is the place!

    El Imposible

    Sub tropical dry forest at 1460m elevation with a variety of more than 260 species of birds and 2260 different species of plants. El Imposible is also called the last refuge - here we will take a circuit tour of 7 km inside the forest.

    Montecristo

    Rain forest - this is one of the most important and protected forests in El Salvador; here you can discover a diversity of fauna and flora and also the highest pines in El Salvador. This is an unforgettable ecotourism adventure...

    El Pital

    The highest point in El Salvador (2730m) Enjoy the tranquility of the place, the beautiful landscapes, pines and cypress, crystal water rivers (Sumpul) and the vegetable and fruit plantations of the locals.

    Chaguantique

    Chaguantique means “Place with beautiful springs”. This protected tropical forest is the only place where we can still find the rare Spider monkey in his natural surroundings. What else? Rivers, lots of birds and butterflies like the big blue or blue morpho.

    Alegría lagoon

    We will visit the crater of Tecapa Volcano (1600m) - Inside we will find a beautiful emerald green lagoon. Also we will visit the town of Alegria which comes from Pipil descendants. Here, someone a local chieftain will share with us the legends of the town.

    Jiquilisco Bay

    Jiquilisco bay is one of our most important eco-systems. It is one of the biggest salad forest (mangroves). There you can visit the “holy spirit island”, where locals work in coconut plantations and produce coconut oil (boat trip).

    Peace Route (Eco Albergue rió Sapo)

    This is a trip to Perkin, where you will encounter an impressive view of the mountains of Morazan - a perfect place for eco tours, Bird watching, hiking and rappelling. The historical town of Perkin chronicles events from El Salvador’s civil war.
