  1. I think a park would be a nice place to have it if you dont want it in your home, or possibly just have it in your yard, so the kids can just run around.

I think the 1 yr old b-day party is mostly for the guests because the 1 yr old has no clue what is really going on and most likely wont remember it.

I got my daughter a cake from Wal Mart that was really cute, and they give you a small round one for free for the 1st b-day.

The older kids can play hide and seek or something, or give the one yr olds rides on their backs if you trust they can handle that.

Park is cool, even if you dont go in the pool.

Make sure to take lots of pictures. :)

Musical chairs is another fun game to play.

  2. Have it at a local park. There are usually two sets of jungle gyms so each age group can play and have a good time. Also you wont have to worry about making your house imaculate. Just buy a few cute decorations and goody bags maybe even a pinata and of course a cake but other than that the kids will entertain themselves.

  3. Do you have like jungle gym type places that hold parties? Here in tasmania (australia) my daughters next birthday is going to be at the jungle gym...you pay for a party and they supply food and for a lil extra a cake (or some places let you take your own) and they do all the prep and you turn up and play and eat and then leave and no clean up....the jungle gym is good cause there is something there for kids of all ages....

  4. I Had a tinkerbell party for my daughters first..(it was hard to find a younger party theme that I liked or that had all the pieces) I had it at my house.. Ughh.. It was so hard.. and honestly my house is still recovering...Next year it will probably be at park...And then when your done, your done and no one sticks around..Cuz believe me you'll be exhausted.. (eventhough the adults did have fun after baby went to sleep)

We bought way to much food and lots of stuff we didnt even use.. SO really think about what has been bought and what you REALLY need..

I Had LOTS of people thier so instead of buying a huge cake I bought a 1/4 sheet and made cupcakes in the color  scheme. Much cheaper!

We did buy a pinata for the kids.. but mostly the party was  adults so It was hard to keep everyone entertained..

A friend had a carnival party for her one yr old and rented a popcorn and cotton candy machine and bought a snowcone maker.. Cuz in the end the party is for the other older children sense your child doesnt know whats going on...

So I thought that was a good idea..

Good luck planning ahead is the best bet. Thats all I can think of for now..

  5. Seriously...just put the money in their college fund.  It's a narcississtic photo op for you--they're not going to remember it.

  6. Those first few birthdays can be a huge waste of money. I mean, you want to do something, but they are still babies. They don't know what the heck is going on. They just wanna play.

Have everyone meet some place that has an indoor playground. My girl's 2nd b-day was in January (in Texas). We went to the McDonald's near our house. It has a huge indoor play area. And what kid doesn't like Mickey D's? They ate and played their little butts off. The parents ate and visited, and then went home with kids that all slept well that night. Everyone's happy!

  7. For my oldest son(now 7) we just did cake and ice cream, and just family.  We decorated just the kitchen, and took pictures there.  It worked out nice.  For my daughter(almost 5), and my son(almost 4) their birthdays are 1 yr./1 day apart, so they have joint birthday partys.  They each get a seperate cake, and we usually go to the park since their birthdays are in Aug.  We have balloons, a few streamers, we get the cheap water guns, and then we buy the cheap paper plates, but a pack of the theme plates for the kids - one pack my daughter's theme, the other my sons.  Now for a fall/winter first birthday party.  My youngest son(9months) will be 1 this October.  So we are just having family, and there will be his siblings, and a few cousins - all under the age of 7.  I'm getting the party hats, themed paper plates, themed cups, just for the kids.  I'm going to the dollar store and making cheap goody bags.  There will be a few streamers, table cloth, etc.  We are getting a smaller cake, since it will be just family.  Basically you could just do cake and punch like us, maybe ice cream.  And keep it small, low key, possibly less mess.  To me, first birthdays are more about family.  Good luck and thats just my opinion.
