What forms of water recyling are there and is desaliantion safe? what are the advantages of desalination and what could be done before we have to turn to desaliantion?

I pipe the water from my sinks, shower, and washer to our garden and use it for irrigation. That's one way. Some cities use water from their waste treatment plants for irrigation of ballfields and playgrounds, it's 99 % pure and safe. Animals can drink it.
