My niece is about 1 1/2. She loves Balls and loves to run around. If it is not nice out I don't want to take her to a park. What are some fun ideas. Some maybe that are not so standard. Swimming, walk around a mall. Think outside of the box for me.

  1. I'd try the Zoo, the Aquarium, Chuckie Cheeses, that kind of stuff.

  2. I work at a preschool and here are some of the activites I do with my 1 and 2 year olds.

They love to color not just with crayons but with markers and chalk.

    Painting/ Finger painting

    Playing with sand

    Reading books

    Simon Says

Hands on things like making necklaces or pictures

    My kids music and dancing

Well thats all I can think of now. Hope it helps.

  3. musical chairs

    painting, drawing, coloring

    singing

    ring around the rosie

    wrestling

    catch

  4. Over the summer I had to babysit SEVEN little kids. All were two or under and trying to take them out was such as hasslee. Especially when it rained! I soon found out that planning things inside the house was a much better way to spend our days. Here's some of the things I came up with:

    1) Play Doh with cookie cutters. (you can find a recipe for making it at home from usual stuff in your kitchen.)

    2) Move everything out of your living room floor and cover it with pillows. You will be surprised how much fun a kid can have with a room full of pillows.

    3) If you have hard wood floor you can put down an old cover or newspaper and they will go crazy with fingerpaint.

    4) (This one was my favorite) When it's time to clean up or you need to do something sinply get a baby doll and have them mimmick what you do. It's really amazing how some little girls act just like mommy (or aunt) when it comes down to it and it also keeps them entertained while you get what you need done.

  5. Hi there.

This is a wonderful age for encouraging imaginative play. Lots of lets pretend and role modeling.  Set up play stations for her at home - pretending cooking using cardboard box oven and plastic kitchen utensils.  Play mothers and babies with dolls and make up little beds for them around your living area.  Show your daughter how to pretend and she will take it from there.  I've found children this age, when given the space and time, can spend long, concentrated periods of imagining - it's so healthy for their sense of self and encourages imagination, self respect and integrity.

  6. If you go to my site you can find some wonderful sites that will help you. I have been using them for quite some time now and they are great. Hope they help. Good Luck!
