What are some fun cheap things to do on our trip without tour guides?

We are going to Cozumel, freeport, honduras and belize on a cruise. we have booked shore excursions everywhere but cozumel and freeport. Any good beaches? Any idea on average prices for cabs? Any ideas or tips on going to the islands are appreciated.

WITHOUT BUYING A TOUR SOME THINGS TO DO IN FREEPORT IS WALK AROUND THE PORT AREA OR HIRE A TAXI TO TAKE YOU AROUND THE CITY SOMETIMES YOU CAN GET A BETTER PRICE THEN THE SHIP. I HAVE ALSO SEEN MOPES BUT THIS IS A LITTLE BIT TO MUCH FOR ME SINCE THEY DRIVE ONTHE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN COZUMEL YOU CAN RENT A JEEP FOR ABOUT 50.00 A DRIVE AROUND.  THIS IS WHAT WE DID AND IT WAS GREAT FUN.  WE STOPPED ALONG THE BEACH FRONT, THEN STOPPED FOR SOME DRINKS AND SNACKS. WE ALSO STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES TO LOOK AT THINGS AND SHOPPED ONE TIP DON'T FILL UP THE GAS TANK YOU. CHECK WITH THE RENTAL PERSON.  THE OFFICE IS AT THE PIER.    IT WAS FUN AND WE DIDN'T FEEL THAT WE WERE IN DANGER AT ANY TIME.

Well, Cozumel is one of the ports where it's very easy to do your own excursions, unless there's something that's only offered by the ship.  Belize is "iffier" - there's a long tender ride in and the immediate area around the port is reportedly not very nice.  Almost any place you want to go in Belize is going to be a long trip, which is very risky in regards to possible delays, etc.

in coz, you can take a cab and eithor go to the park (chan.....) or go to a beach club like Mr. Sancho's.  You can also pick up a snorkle tour right from the pier. From Freeport, you can take a taxi to the beaches.
