  2. Hi there,

This is a good game to try but you need more than one child to add a bit of fun and make it more interesting! - It can be played with 2 children but the more you have the more fun it is.

Give all children , say A4 size paper, and either a pencil or colouring pencils.  You (the adult) tell a short but simple story (or describe a scene/picture/photograph) which the children have to draw.  The children should be spaced out so that they cannot copy each other's drawing (and cannot see the picture you are describing).

For example:-  There was a brown, (black, grey, pink! any colour you want to choose) donkey walking along the beach - pause here to give children time to draw their donkey - then continue, there was a man with a long (green, yellow, blue) beard riding on the donkey, he was wearing a (big, small, purple, whatever colour you decide - hat).   As he rode along the beach he met 2 children playing in the sand..... again giving time for the children to complete their drawing of your description.

You can adapt the description to be more complex for older children or as simple a possible for little ones.  If you get stuck for ideas you could choose a picture from a book and describe it for the children to draw.  You could make it into a little competiton and give a small prize for the child whose drawing most resembles the picture that you have described in the book. Good for a party game!  It keeps them occupied for quite some time.  They enjoy it and want to do another and another and another.  You could also let the children have a go at describing while the others draw.

It is a good game to play, it can be as simple or comlplex as you like.  It is also good for developing their listening/speaking skills, colour recognition, number recogniton etc.

Anyway give it a go and see what happens!  Best of luck and have fun!
