Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were "political adversaries" and wrote to eachother later in life, They had a wager on who would die first.  They died the same day  July 4, 1826 - 50 years after the declation was signed.  Adams last words were "Jefferson still lives.."  but he had died earlier that day.  Jeffersons were "Is it the 4th?"
