What are some fun home things to do with a 6 year old on a rainy day?

Arts and crafts! make a cool box using paint, stickers, glue buttons, macaroni,  anything! you can also use old jars, makes a cool pencil holder. cooking is also fun, make homemade pizza, or cookies. At the dollar store there is alot of easy craft kits to make animals or dolls. Rent a cool video game and have a marathon. if you have a car and $$ play bowling, or go to a museum

Freeze game: helps them learn to "freeze" and can be helpful if they tried someday to run into the street.

Red light/Green light: shows them following directions and paying attention is beneficial.

My son loves the game where you put loads of objects out and take one away and the other person has to remember which item is missing.

Make cards for peoples birthdays

Play a word game - Eg. you select a category for example colours, so the first person says red, the next person has to think of a colour that begins with "d" because thats what red ends in. You can do it with names, animals etc..

playing hide and seek is always fun.  also, my kids love crafts.  We went to wal-mart and got a bunch of glitter, glue, paper, paint, etc. all for under $20.  One of their favorite activities was making silly masks out of paper bags.  They made a huge mess, but had a great time doing it.

scavenger hunt. draw pictures( like the tv, refridgerator, bed, computer, toilet)) on peices of scratch paper and one picture leads to another.  Hide one of his favorite toys and tell him to find the surprise
