What are some fun/interesting things to do with leftover wine bottles?

i have a bunch of empty wine bottles and i really don't want to just throw them away. i'm thinking of making a few vases but a person can only need so many of those..

vases are a good idea. i use them as garden decoration too. i have so many bottles i was able to border a whole garden...

vases are a good idea but what else you could do is to use the glass(once broken up) to make stepping stones with them.  Garden ornaments are also a good idea.  I am really drawing a blank right now on what else can be done.  Oh, maybe some candle holders?  You can also check online to get some ideas.

You can put a candle in the top, and it burns down and the wax makes a cool display. Another option - which I'm surprised no one has mentioned - you can use em' for target practise. Put Osama on there and pop away.

A friend of mine puts small christmas type lights inside, hangs some artificial leaves and grapes at the top.  They turn out really pretty!

Make your own wine and refill them!

You can store dry herbs.  Make your own wine.  Make infusions of oils, vinegar and herbs.  Do sand art.  Carefully break them and make glass art.  Recycle them.  Store rice, legumes, etc.  Build a wooden ship in there.  Or, like Sting and the Police, send an SOS to the world!!
