  1. Canberra is pretty boring but cos you have kids i would say visit Cockington Green, i thought that was cool when i was a kid.

  2. Hello,

Canberra the Nations Capital of Australia is a great place to live and visit as well.

We have lots to offer all year round such as festivals, big events, markets, galleries, shopping, nightlife such as clubbing, National tourist attractions such as the Australian War Memorial, National Museum of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House, Old Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin and lots of other things you can see and do while your in our great city of ours.

We have big events such as Floriade - Australia's Floral Festival which is on in spring during mid September and October each year, National Folk Festival in Easter, Royal Canberra Show in late February, Australia Day Live concert, Canberra Day on the 10th of March each year, Summernats Car Festival in early January, National Multicultral Festival in mid February.

You can go for walks or ride a bike around Lake Burley Griffin or hire paddle boats or canoes and go for a cruise on the lake.

There's lots of small community events in each area of Canberra, wineries, bike riding, bush walking, skateboarding, all kinds of sports such as cricket, AFL, basketball, motorsports, camping, hang gliding, triathalon, swimming, football, and lots of other things to do.

For kids activities there's Questacon, National Museum of Australia, AIS - Australian Insitute of Sports, National Dinosaur Museum, Cockington Green, Australian War Memorial, National Zoo and Aquarium, Deep Space Tracking Station, Weston Park, Lake Burley Griffin, Go Karting, Bike Riding, Skateboarding at a number of skateparks around Canberra and plenty of other things for kids to do and these are only a small number of them to visit as there's a lot more.

The population of Canberra at the moment is around 325,000 residents and we are a friendly city.

There is a tour bus in Canberra which does drop off and pick up at all the major tourist attractions including a drive past the Embassies.

This is a hop on and hop off tour bus with some commentary along the way.

The main guy who does this bus tour is John and he runs the Canberra Day Tours which is overwise known as the Explorer Bus. He's a great guy and he and his other two helpers will show you the sights of Canberra.

They do a hour hour tour which does a loop of all the attractions and you stay on the bus. Then a half day tour and also a full day tour.

If your interested in wine tours I'd suggest a good friend of mine who I have known for about 6 or 7 years and his name is Michael and he does tours in Canberra and the region of wineries and cellar doors. You can give him a call or send him an email from his website located at:

    ACT Wine Tours:

Both tours are well worth the money I reckonmend both of them to visitors coming to Canberra and locals of Canberra as well.

So there's lots of things to see and do in Canberra all year round.

  4. You cannot miss Questacon, it is the like the best place to go when you're a kid, man that's a full day of entertainment easily. I know its not outside... but you do quite a bit of running around.

I also enjoyed paddle boating, but it really depends upon the weather, horse riding not as fun as the country, bike riding around the lake is always fun (and exhausting), or rollerblading around, (mum always used to make a picnic as well).

You may wish to see if any fruit picking crops are on...  but I guess that may be a bit far out...

western park is a really nice area, and if you can sail, that's always fun.

    the zoo is always fun

national gallery, once again inside, but you run around lots of it inside

You should see if the army base Duntroon is open, its the biggest army base in Australia, remember being pretty wowed by it

Also check out what else is going on when you're there like the balloon festival (awesome seriously) floriade, the multicultural festival, anzac day, canberra day, canberra show, australia day (love the concert), any major holiday = fireworks.

I'm sure you'll find something to do, enjoy canberra

  5. The National Zoo and Aquarium

    Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve

    Australian National Botanic Gardens

Adventure Playground at Kambah - Adventure playground picnic area, public toilets, barbeque. Includes treehouse, junior and senior flying foxes and climbing walls.

In Summer theres the Big Spash water slides at Maquarie

    Some more indoor activities:

    Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex

    Canberra Space Dome and Observatory

  6. its not outside, but you would have to go to questacon with kids that age
