I am babysitting two girls, one is 8, the other is 11 (10?) tonight for about 4-5 hours.

I do not want to just put them down in front of the TV, but they aren't very verbal about saying what they want to do (I've babysat them before).

Outdoor suggestions would be great, but right now hurricane fay will have us stuck inside, so for tonight there is no going outside.

  1. Kids really enjoy video games.

For the troll that gave me thumbs down, there is nothing wrong with video games, they can be educational as well and they are entertaining.

  2. Take some books with you. Or have them write a story, with you. Each person writes the next paragraph. Games, of course. Math puzzles.

  3. Well bring them some toys that they like and bring borad games and some cards. Show them some tricks if you know any. I am 11 too and i like to play games and hang out and play hide-and-go-seek! For the 8 year old teach her new games to play and the 11 year old can too. Do you know how to jacobs ladder with string? If you know then do that show them the teacup and more! HOPE I HELPED!

  4. Play some board games if they have any.

Or read to them, maybe even teach them a simple dance or some songs.

  5. Board games?

    Actually, I'd suggest doing crafts.

Like making things with glitter, Popsicle sticks, or beads.

Something like that. Girls enjoy making thing. :D

Try baking! Cupcakes or brownies are very fun to make!

  6. Play dolls, play board games,  play barbies,  Lego's,  anything that the kids want to do,  but I agree, that is so good of you, to not just put them in front of the tv........ they'll love it, if you play with them,  and they'll tell their parents, that THEY LIKE YOU, So the Parents WILL CALL YOU AGAIN.  so you'll be making a lot of money!

  7. Try drawing,

Sharades. Act as something without talking

    Play race if u can

    Monopoly

    Cards

Just think you can even google some  things

  8. It shouldn't be too hard.  Kids that age don't really need to be entertained. Watch a movie or play a board game or 2.

  9. monopoly!!!!!

    or any other board game!!!

  10. duck duck goose, coloring, hide and go seek, make necklaces and bracelates, braid hair do nails things like tht

  11. If it'd be okay with the parents, maybe do each other's nails.

Teaching them a dance or just all of you dancing sounds fun.

maybe just sit around and talk (if they'll do that)

    play jenga---

I saw this thing in some teen magazine where you write things on the jenga blocks like "Would you rather dye your hair purple or get a mohawk" or "What celebrity would you marry" or "do the chicken dance" and put them question-side-down and  when someone pulls out a block, they have to answer the question.  (some fun, but age-appropriate questions or dares). This seems fun and might get them talking.

  12. bring you cell phone and text people.

  13. I have to babysit tonight too! :D

How about Hide-and-Seek? or if they have a board game like Sorry or something?

  14. make bracelets, play board games, watch their favorite movie...(if they agree), draw, (if they are artistic), let them play their favorite bands for you...gossip, girls love to gossip!

  15. A lot of kids that age love TV but one hour should be enough for the time period you'll be watching them. Try playing board games about different TV shows maybe like Hannah Montana. You can also maybe do sleepover stuff like makeovers. If these girls are more sporty, maybe the Wii if you/they have it. You could also ask them about sports they play and see what you have in common with them. If these girls are more into fashion, you could ask them to take you into their closets and have a little fashion show. Maybe even tape it and show their parents. Hope I helped!

  16. At 8 and 11, you aren't so much entertaining them as making sure they are safe and follow their parents rules while you are there. So I would plan a few fun things to do and they can participate or not. You could back cookies, play some board games, paint each others toe nails, dance around, bring over a movie they may not have seen before, etc.

  17. lol the first answer is classic Lets just say i hope she doesnt get any babysitting jobs in the near future. You can do so much board games. cards. a good movie that none of you have seen with popcorn. Paint nails. do each others hair  theres so much fun you can have. Most parents dont have the time to do these things and when they have someone older doing them with them that can make them so happy. Have Fun!

  18. They seem like they're at the age where they would love it if you did their hair or something. Maybe you could give them french braids? My cousins that age love that.

Also, bring over a game that is new to them so it will be interesting. Or maybe you could go and get ingredients to bake cookies or something? Cooking is always fun when they get to do things themselves. (Bagel pizzas, cookie decorating, etc.)

Art projects that you could bring would be fun, too, depending on what they like. You could bring some string for friendship bracelets. You can get embroidery floss for like 75cents at any craft store. http://www.makingfriends.com/jewelry/bra...
