  1. Get jerry lewis saying "illiterate f*g",   the weather guy on family guy "its gonn rain!"  The FCC song that they do on family guy "wit hthe fellas at the freakin FCC",  meatwad when he gets eaten by the snake "thats between me and god"  there are all kinds of sample website you can go to, also youtube is invaluable for song beds and sounders.

  2. I can remember when Rick Shaw used to use clips from the old "Lone Ranger" series. He was a genius and you actuallly thought the Lone Ranger and Tonto were in the studio with him asking and answering questions as he carried on a dialogue with them. That was great radio. Other jocks have used drop-ins - many have done it well, but none like Shaw at WQAM.

d**k Orkin was also terrific at doing bits. The famous "Chickenman" with its ubiquitous "He's everywhere, he's everywhere!" is back in syndication on XM.

But I digress, There are lots of drop in and sound effect services, just go to your favorite search engine and start looking around. BE SURE what you use is copyright-free or copyright-included. It would not be cool to pull some stuff from "The Simpsons" off your TV, then run it on a commercial radio station. You could get sued or worse, your station could lose their license.

There are always rumors about, "Oh you can use (pick a number of seconds) without getting into trouble. Are you willing to risk it? I'm no lawyer, and a lawyer might tell you you can use up to 10" without worrying about royalties, just make sure your immediate superior is aware of what you're doing - then he/she can take the heat if there's a problem ;<)

Good luck, it;s been a long time since I've heard anyone use drop ins - and do it right. Probably best to pre-record, then play back while you're there live to over ride or take over when the bit is done.
