I want a name that identifably black but also not considered "ghetto" (whatever that means).

Actually Maria is WRONG, there are distinct African-American names.Theres entire books written on them. If I said it once Ive said it a million times that Montavious is an awsome name..

There aren't really any "African-American" names, but there are plenty of African names you could choose from.  Many Blacks in the U.S. also choose Arabic names.  A good place to start would be a baby name book or site.  Think about what you want the name to convey, and choose a name with meaning.

...so, you must choose your affiliation based on your sense of unity

...either name chosen will only apply to a human being

....the upbringing of that human will be the 'telling' factor of the person in that race

...not the name
