Compared to America?

I mean, I live here in insular, un-worldly America so I honestly don't know, I'm not trying to be a smart a** or anything.

as above, also but besides the point Australians are the most prolific mobile (cell) phone owners per capita in the world, broadband and unwired internet access is the same, where really not technologically challenged mate!

The internet is as widely used in Australia as the US. It's not rare at all.

Facebook, My Space and LinkedIn all have Australians on them: you just have to search those networks to find them.
