Yeah, I have heard of the beaches-- Omaha, Juno, etc. and St. Mere-Eglise, St Lo, etc., but I was wondering what specifically you'd recommend if a person only had one day. I speak French (as a second language) and plan to rent a car. Thanks.

  1. You can go to the Caen memorial museum in the morning and then drive along the beaches. That's what I did. It makes you look at them with a new eye. Omaha beach would be the best as it is the biggest.

St Lo is 80 kms inland so I would not recommend it if you have only a day.

  2. Google, Yahoo, Askjeeves, Dogpile all have great websites for d-day :)

  3. The top place would be Omaha beach.  Huge cemetary, museum and you can go to the coast and see some of the wreckage that is still there.

  4. I live in Saint lô !!
