My daughter is almost 8 months old. She likes watching anything colorful but gets disinterested if there isnt upbeat music. Anyone have any good, educational recomendations? She likes stuff like the dora opening song and the little einsteins opening song.

And please, no comments on not letting her watch any tv. Isnt not as if the tv babysits her.

  1. my daughter LOVES barney the dinosaur. her little face lights up when she hears the theme tune.

i dont leave her to watch it alone though. we watch it together, i say 'oh look there is red balloon' etc. we sing the songs, do the actions etc.

    we both enjoy it!

  2. i heard that they were a waste of time in a baby under two because they do not grasp the concept of tv. but that's only what i heard about that ......my son isn't interested in the tv so i personally don't know but i have heard good things about baby einstein dvds

  3. I love the baby eistein collection. there are lots of choices and colors. it is relatively affordable. my son is four months loves it and the older neices and nephews 5,5,3,15months liked them too

i would look online for a site that offers the whole 26 cd set for around 100 dollars.

  4. Baby Eistein and Leap Frog have excellent DVDs for babies.

  5. Baby Einsteins

  6. teletubbies!

    blues clues

    sesame street

    zoom

    bill nye the science guy*

    drag tails

    bob the builder

    dora the explorer

    go, diego, go!

    the magic school bus

  7. Baby Einstein have the best DVD's they're all very educational. And pretty cute too :-)

  8. Maybe you don't want to hear it but you are just breeding another brain dead telly addict. Why not take the kid out to see the real world and meet real people, believe it or not they do exist and are far more interesting than make believe TV. Remember some people are not able to leave the house even if they wanted to, make use of your health and your child's health while you have the chance.

  9. ruby's favorites have been:

baby einstein's baby mozart (best for younger babies; up to 10 months, i'd say)

baby einstein's baby shakespeare --a  great one

baby einstein's baby neptune -- ditto. awesome

baby einstein's baby noah -- currently her fave. best for older kids; i'd say she'll be super into it at about a year

baby einstein's neighborhood animals: this was her fave for many, many months.

her #1 fave is "sesame street's all star alphabet." this one is outstanding. AND, there are funny things dropped in for parents, so you don't want to claw your face off after the 100th time you have to watch it.

ruby has watched dvds since she was 5 months old. not all day, and usually with me narrating. some days only one, some days three. (they are about 30 minutes each). and at 15 months, she says about 30 words. so don't worry about the critics. at your daughter's age, it is important that you try to interact with her while she is watching -- talk her through it. however, once a day so that you can shower or clean or take a break will NOT affect her negatively. it's hard to find that sesame street one, but it's worth the effort. :)

and ignore that rubbish about "breeding a tv addict" or whatever. ruby does more stimulating stuff than any baby i know. we go out of the house (parks, wading pool, long walks, arboretum) at least twice a day; we have a membership to the children's museum; she and i take kindermusic classes together once a week. she is a brilliant, vibrant, active happy child. i am sure your daughter is too!

  10. Hello,

I have tried many watch online sites but you usually end up paying for it eventually.

But this one is totally free http://www.mrnicheproducts.com/movies/

    Enjoy.

  11. Baby Eistein

  12. Sesame street/babies and Miffy are great for little ones.

I think it's only normal that our kids watch tv. We do it, it's part of our every day life. People who don't want their children watching tv should throw out their set.

At least you're making sure she's watching age appropriate programs snd it gives you a change to get some stuff around the house done quickly.

It's all nice and well to say to take your baby out instead of her watching some tv, but most of us don't have time to be strolling the park all day...unfortunately ;)

  13. Baby Einsteins are the only one's I know of for babies but before you buy just turn it on noggin there's lots of shows that are fast moving and colorful. there is also an hbo cartoon called classic baby. And try Disney's Fantasia too.
