Question:

What are some good North SD County neighborhoods?

I am moving to SD. I have a 10 month old child and need to pick a neighborhood with good schools. We are thinking about Carlsbad, but don't know much. Our current home is nearly 6000 sq ft with a 3 car garage on a lake with a walking path.

I know I won't find this size house in CA for what I can afford, but you get the picture of what I'm used to and what I will be comfortable in.

Any advice on cities/neighborhoods?

  1. encinitas, carlsbad, delmar are the high end north county neighborhoods you'll be looking at. If you're used to a higher end of living la jolla is the appitimy that kind of "stuck up" community, although a home like the one you described may cost you upwards of 7 million in la jolla.

the previously stated places are more down to earth.

  2. Rancho Bernardo is quit and nice

Also 4S Ranch is very nice

  3. North County Coastal:  Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar.  There are plenty of nice neighborhoods near the ocean.

North County Inland:  There are also nice neighborhoods a little farther inland in both Carlsbad and Encinitas.  Olivenhain is also nice.

I'm not sure about the Carlsbad/Encinitas school district, but I know the Solana Beach/Del Mar district is one of the top districts in California.

  4. rancho bernardo is nice

  5. carlsbad is amazing. been living there my whole life and dont have a single complaint. it has super nice people, amazing weather, and the city is just really quant and welcoming
