I'm in the Environmental Club at Troy University and we want to set up a small table and put up some flyers and posters around campus but what else??? We are giving out free recycle bags at the table but we haven't any more ideas... Any activities or stuff to handout ideas would be great.

  1. Since summer is right around the corner suggest people walk and even buy a scooter. My son-in-law is having a grand opening at his scooter shop on earth day and he's giving free riding lessons to any one that qualifies.

    Thanks for all you do!!

And they get 100 miles to the gallon!!!

  2. Plant tree, recycle, get eco things

  3. plant some flowers for a new garden :)

  4. Cutting down trees and lighting tires on fire

  5. I love earth day!! itz my fav holiday!! lol

ppl @ my school say im a tree hugger!!

    heres what u can do

earth day countdown (at 12:59 and 55 sec (pm) count 5..4..3..2..1.. EARTH DAY!!

    recycle

    make posters (on recycled paper)

get on cbs and give me a shout out (and tell them about earth day!!)

    Go green!

p.s. can i join you lol?

  6. Have everyone get naked in celebration of nature at its best!!  Or pass out some flyer with pictures of a local area that needs some improvement and see if you can get a group together to help clean it up.  Then you would be actually helping your enviorment

  7. Get naked and turn out the lights... ;D

  8. If you want people to stop at your table, have chicks in bikinis handing out the flyers

  9. I have a few ideas that we did in my town:

    -Pick up garbage

-Pick up pop cans n take them to the can redemption place

-Take all of your recycling in

-Plant some trees in neighboring spots that are bare

-Put some grass seed in an area where there is few grass or it doesn't grow as good

  10. Here's a thought to raise awareness and involve them in a small action. Make a list of very small actions one person can take just for that day--type it (fill a page and then print multiple copies) so you can cut into strips of paper the size you'd put into fortune cookies. Put strips into large glass fishbowl. Have visitors to your table draw a slip of paper and promise to take that action: suggestions could be:

unplug your phone charger just for today when it's not in use; put one item you can recycle into a bin; turn off one light switch in a room where you are not using the light; you can have silly ones, too, like literally hug one tree today--if people look at you funny, hold up your paper strip and say you had to do it. Or, take off you shoes and feel the grass under your feet. You can have imagination experiments as the task, too: Imagine drinking dirty water--taste the chemicals, feel nauseated. Now drink some clear water--really taste it. Think about how you can always have clean water. Have fun with this. Make people smile when they think of doing a tiny bit for their planet. It's OK if they don't like the strip they pulled and want to get a different one. Challenge them to doing as many strips as they can. Have them write their own strips and add to the bowl. People feel overwhelmed by the global challenges. Help them feel powerful even if just for a tiny act, just for a day.

  11. Pick up trash, plant some trees ^^.

  12. Save trees and the energy used in paper production by taking your name off mailing lists.

  13. pick up trash, plant many trees... go talk to local business about looking into not using plastic bags anymore.

  14. how about earth friendly stylish bracelets??? like one of the celebrity endorsed bracelets.... of course the material would made by ready available and earth friendly materials. in that way if they chose to wear it they are constantly reminded to take care of our environment

  15. plant some trees

  16. clean up a playground - new paint

    clean up beaches and/or lakes

  17. I respect that you are wanting to do something for Earth Day by raising awareness to the public, but passing out papers that most people will either toss in the trash or on the ground isn't really helpful. I'm not knocking what you're trying to do by any means, I'm just saying that there are far better things to be done than handing out fliers.

If you truly want to do something for Earth Day, then go out and clean up a park. Pick up trash in your neighborhood. Go around and ask people if they have any cans, paper, or plastic products they would like to get rid of. - Then take the collected items to your local recycling place. Another thing you can do is plant trees. - Don't forget to make sure that you get any and all of the proper permits before you plant a tree. - Some places may require consent, others *may* require written permission. Make sure you find out before digging or planting anything. - The dean of your University or some other person in charge there may even allow you to plant some trees on the school property. It never hurts to ask, and more tress can never hurt, no matter where they are. Good luck!!
