We have a family with children, two about ten years old and me, 16 years old, and we've never been to Switzerland or England and need some travel advice on where to go and what to see. And a list of good cities in Switzerland to visit would also be greatly appreciated because we're not sure where we're going once we're there. Links are appreciated greatly because I need to look at prices too. Thanks!!

  1. Well, I can't help much with the Switzerland bit but here's a quick rundown for London.  I'm assuming you don't have a ton of time to spend so here are some of the top places to visit!

Take the tube from Heathrow into the center of the city (You can take the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, change onto the District line to Upminster and get of at Westminster stop). From Westminster, you will exit the tube to see The London Eye, Big Ben, the houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and a number of those red telephone booths that are so popular for pictures. From there, you can walk to Buckingham Palace through some of the beautiful London parks. This is a great area for a really quick look at the can't-miss bits of London.

If you find that you end up spending a lot of time in one area, you can always come back the next day to finish the tour.

In the evenings, there are always hundred of events in the city and the best way to find out what's on is to visit http://www.spoonfed.co.uk or buy a copy of Time Out magazine.  Both will have event listings including art exhibitions, theatre shows, concerts, classes, family events and more.

Hope you have a wonderful trip and get some good advice on the Switzerland bit as well - I hear it's beautiful!
