  1. I used to race a few years ago and my coach always made me memorize every turn off by heart. That's one of the big things to do because memorizing when to start a turn and slowing down for a turn can win you a race. This will give you more confidence to go faster and push harder. Another one would be to ski the course a few times but, the first time you start going 70% of how fast you think you can. Then increase the percent every time you ski the course until you fail and find you limit.

  2. 1.) Start out from the starting gate as fast as you can.  Sorta "skate" the first 20 or 25ft to help get yourself going.  Also use your poles to get yourself going until you are rounding the first gate.  After the first or second gate you should be in a "tuck", and you poles shouldn't be needed anymore.

2.) The idea is to make nice even turns around the gates at the fastest speed possible, so after going around one gate don't aim for the gate itself or you will go past the gate and loose time trying to correct yourself for the next gate.  Aim slightly higher than the gate an turn before just before you reach it.  This way you go AROUND the gate rather than PAST it.

3.)  Look way ahead so you know where the next gate is and the gate after that.  You will get going pretty fast so it is nice to know where you are going next and plan how sharp your turns need to be.

4.)  After you pass the final gate (you will know this because your looking way ahead)  ski towards the finish line as straight as you can in the shortest distance and time possible.

This sounds rather complicated, but basically all you have to do is keep yourself as aerodynamic as possible, think ahead, and use you head when making decisions.

  3. slip the course.. or train on it if they let u as many times as they let u, this way u will know all of the courses hard parts and u will have an advantage agaisnt the otehr athletes

  4. Start fast and finish the race, you can not win if you do not finish. Wear a helmet, practice the DH course, get as many runs on the course as you can.

  5. stick your outside leg out to the side so that your sort of crouching, then tilt that edge towards you, whilst tilting the inside leg away(the inside leg is bent up to your chest). and lean into the corner, then straighten up and repeat on the next turn(if the last to gates over lap try and straight line through them.

ohh and if your game enough hit the gates, it helps make the turn smaller, or something like that, but you go faster.

  6. In both GS and DH, "smooth and easy" is the key. Get on and off your edges smoothly, try to pick a line that allows you to do this.  Every time you have to jam your edges in, you lose time.  Unless you are racing at noram level or higher, it is not that critical to memorize the course, but try to remember where the hard gates and transitions are.  AND.... work on your breathing.  Alot of young racers get so wrapped up in the event, they forget to breathe.  Whistling jingle bells has helped several of my athletes.  Just relax, and let the course come to you.
