  1. While there are many books that cover ancient Egypt I would recommend to you the '"The Complete" series published by Thames and Hudson.

Among them are the Complete Valley of the Kings,The Complete Pyramids,The Complete Temples and The Complete Gods and Goddesses.

All in the series are written by Egyptologists/archaeologists,and unlike many books on the subject have substantial amount of text as well as quality pictures and maps.

A definite "must" for anyone with more than a passing interest in ancient Egypt is "Egypt of the Pharaohs" by Sir Alan Gardiner, published by Oxford Press.

Although written in 1961 this book is still to be surpassed as a comprehensive history of Egypt from the predynastic era until the conquest of Alexander in 332BCE.

"The Mummy" by E.A.Wallis Budge, one of the fathers of Egyptology gives an indepth study into the art  of mummification, ritual and practise
