What are some good anime MOVIES??

Question

Not a series. Something that is like one DVD and that is all you need to buy. No Volumes.

I like Fake, Gunsmith Cats, Earthian, Ninja Scroll, Slayers, Battle Angel, Wolves Rain, Solbianca. I like anime with strong female characters. I like sci-fi and fantasy. I like Action, guns, magic, vampires. No annoying little kids or cute animals.

you might enjoy Hayao Miyazaki's work: Princess Mononoke, The Cat Returns, Kiki's Delivery Service, Naausica and the Vally of the Wind, Howls Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Whisper of the Heart

Grave of the Fireflies is also good, though not magical same with Five Centimeters Per Second

Cowboy Bebop - The Movie should be your first choice, if you haven't already seen it. There are a couple of strong female characters, it's sci-fi, it's got lots of guns and action. It's also made but some of the same people who worked on Wolf's Rain. There is a kid and a dog, but they are the comic relief and they don't have big parts.

And you may want to check out films by Satoshi Kon. They don't exactly meet any of your criteria, but he has not made a bad movie yet. Tokyo God Fathers has the most action. Paprika is sci-fi and has a strong female lead.

Hmm I dont know if 'Akira' would count?

It ticks all your, box's with action, guns, magic and sci fi (in bucket fulls), but no strong female charectors that I know off. Its also one of the most well known Anime Movies, voted number one every where.

Spirited Away is another, its even in the IMDB top 250 list. (Fantasy by the way).

Dont know if this is you cup of tea but, 5 Centimeters per Second, is really well animated and at the end it leaves you with a really happy feeling, and its really epic, your eyes will be glued to the screen for hours!
