Vampires you say? Hellsing Ultimate is top of my list. Dark, violent, well animated & dubbed, full of references & symbols, and has pretty much the biggest badass anime has to offer -- Alucard. The OVA series is not done yet, you can catch the first 4...I don't think you'll regret it.
