  2. I spend a lot of time practicing my position play.  The simplest exercise that I've used for years is to take three balls (2 stripes and the eight) and throw them on the table.  Pick up the cue as if you had ball in hand and "get out" (i.e. pick your shots, shoot the two solids and then the eight).  When three balls becomes too easy, change to three, then four, etc.  finally start adding stripes as "blockers".

  3. Rack all 15 balls and see how many balls or racks you can shoot without missing. It's great practice for keeping in stroke, rhythm, cue ball position, and stamina. Be sure to leave the 15th (last) ball on the table, so when you go to break your 2nd rack (if you've got that far) you can shoot at that last ball in order to break up the rack --- as breaking into the rack DOES count as one shot. Call ALL shots.

You can even play 9-Ball or 8-Ball by yourself --- simply be your own opponent. Play smart on 'both sides'. If you don't have a good shot .......play a safety. As your own opponent, challenge your skill to make a good hit and return a safety shot to yourself. Play to win, whether you're "you" or your opponent!

You can also set up drills: Banks, rail-shots, stop shots ...on and on.

Play 3-Ball : See how many shots it takes you to shoot three balls in. The 'break' counts as one shot. Scratching (pocketing the cue ball) counts as two shots. Rack the balls as if you're going to play 8 or 9 -ball, but only rack 3 balls on the foot spot.

    Challenge yourself!

    Have fun -
