  1. Check out books by Ian Tattersall or Donald Johanson. For some older works, check out Alan Walker (I don't think he has written anything recently - he may have even retired completely from PSU).  Also, The Complete World of Human Evolution by Chris Stringer (nice place to start), The First Human by Ann Gibbons, Bones, Stones and Molecules by David W. Cameron, Smithsonian Intimate Guide to Human Origins by Carl Zimmer.

    More recently, Before the Dawn by Nicholas Wade, The Last Human by GJ Sawyer.

    Paeloprimatology & Human Evolution and The Journal of Human Evolution are excellent journals.
