  1. the junie b. jones series

  2. It depends on what kind of books you are looking for, literary, or educational related subject materials.

These are two great web sites; the book lists are listed under grade level, however  have always looked at their reading, and maturity level, more than what they think needs to be read by children because of grade level.

    Book lists.

If you are looking for great educational materials go to:

    Or look here:

  3. Clifford The Big Red Dog, Square Sponge Bob, Walt Disney, Charlie Brown, Marvel, Golden books, and anything written by Mary Engelbreit.

  5. Dr. Seuss!!!

    He's a classic!

  6. It very much depends on your child's reading level.  He should definitely be reading chapter books by now.  Start him out with "easy" books.  The Bernstein Bears have short chapter books.  Also, the Boxcar Children series is great.  What are you son's interests?  If he loves history, try getting him some biographies- maybe not chapter books though.  If he is into science, find books on whatever he likes.  If possible, obtain two copies of the book and take turns reading aloud (a VERY important skill) or you can each read a section silently and then hold a "book club" style discussion.  Whatever gets him motivated.

  7. 2nd graders range in their reading levels. Some are just starting to read, others have been reading for 1 or 2 years. So here is a list that has a good range.

Been Reading for 1 to 2 years but still not quite at chapter books:

    Nate the Great Series

    Stan the Hot Dog Man

    A Fly Went By

    Sam and the Firefly

    The Biggest Bear

    Minerva Louise Series

    Julius

    Tacky Series

    Danny the Dinosaur

    Frog and Toad Books

    Chrysanthemum

    The Amelia Badelia books

    Officer Buckle and Gloria

Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing

    Miss Nelson is Missing

    Madeline books

    The Hundred Dresses

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

    Ready for Chapter books:

    Boxcar Children

    The Mouse and the Motercycle

    Charlotte's Web

    Mrs. Piggle Wiggle

    Ramona series

    Pipi Longstocking

    Betsy and Tacy

  8. Give him books done by  Dr. Seuss or  give him the series of  Junie B. Jones books. However, honestly at that time I was reading books that were meant for high schooler's, so  I can't be of much help.

  9. Time to start checking on line and joining others who do the same.

Heaps of idea's on the site I looked at

  10. Five-in-a-Row gives book recommendations for primary students.

  11. Oh, I hate Junie B. Jones! haha. But who cares what I like, I'm 31!

In 2nd grade, my kids read...well, at 2nd grade we were already reading Jr. Paper backs. So, I guess it depends on how advanced a reader you have.

    Just starting out? Bob Books!

Just getting going? Dr. Seuss books. Fun, exciting, and rhymes!

Right on track? Well, let me just start you off with my book list through Robinson Curriculum:

    mcGuffey's Primer

    McGuffey's First Reader

    Nursery Rhymes

McGuffey's Second Reader (uhm....that funny cursive letter you can't figure out is a lower case P)

Anything from Arthur Scott Bailey (The Tale of Jolly Robin, The Tale of Solomon Owl, The Tale of Paddy Muskrat, etc. Many are out of print. Just do a search at your local library).

The Bobsey Twins (...in the Country, ...at the Seashore,...at School...and more by Laura Lee Hope)

    Books by Sophie May

    Aesop's Fables

There. I think that will get you started. You are better off buying the McGruffey reader's through Amazon.com, because they are not a quick read and you only read a little each day. They are wonderful! I believe in keeping costs down, so just buy them individually. I payed very little, including shipping, for my 2nd reader in brand new condition. These new sets are outrageously priced!

    Happy Reading!
