  1. I answered this question a couple weeks ago and said "Betting Thoroughbreds" by Davidowitz was a good basic starting book.

But now I'm reading "Handicapping 101" by Brad Free and I think it is a great book on the fundamentals of handicapping.

In terms of wagering strategies, check out:

Winning Thoroughbred Stratgies, by d**k Mitchell

    Exotic Betting, Steven Crist

The Best of Thoroughbred Handicapping, James Quinn

Fast Track to Thoroughbred Profits, Mark Cramer.

  2. The book I live by as far as handicapping is  Sam Lewin's The Education of a Horseplayer:  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0...

It's an old book, but I learned a lot from it about handicapping.  In terms of betting strategy, though, it may be a little out of date.  Andrew Beyer's books are pretty good, I have heard a lot of praise for Betting Thoroughbreds by Steve Davidowitz, but I haven't read it and can't vouch for it.

  3. If you have been betting for 15 years you have the basics down pat. The ONLY book I carry with me at all times is what I call my racing bible...LOL! It's the sire stats book, here is a link:

This book is touted by Matt Carrothers of TVG fame ( not that I think he is a great handicapper), and every year it is crammed with USEFUL info. This years edition has stats on how a sire's progeny are doing on artificial surfaces. I still am having a hard time handicapping for poly track/cushion track/ Tapeta...
