I want to understand this subject more and I'm not sure where to start. So I'm asking for any good, helpful books that you all might think will help me understand this better.

Just for the record I'll learn the past about it, what it means, how it works, etc.

  1. I will recommend former adviser to the president and current Harvard professor Gregory Mankiw's Principles of Economics. http://www.amazon.com/Principles-Economi...

It's a 700 page textbook meant for introductary courses to economics at undergraduate level.

Might seem like a mammoth, but it's written very well with lots of illustrative graphics. It is an easy read with no requirement of mathematics or prior economic education. It explains everything from the basics of supply and demand to the process of monetary policy and the effects of fiscal policy.

Personally I think everyone should at some point undergo a 1 year course in economics with this text book. :)
