What are some good books to read if I want to begin to get good at "Go"?

Books that teach basics while helping a player to move forward, and books that have good life and death problems to look over. What are some good ones?

umm search sensei's xmp or something it's a good reference site.

on sensei's xmp search "influence map" it's a great way to get a feel for go.

For books.. order them online at kgs... amazon and such. If you want to buy in real life.. Popular book stores like Barnes and Nobles or Borders would have a few, but not diverse and usually just beginner books. Library is good too. I'd still say online is the best way to go for moderate level to semi high level books. Mainly the books are writen by pro's so you can be sure that their are going to help. And no go book is bad, they all have their points and you should learn it even if you decide not to play the certain concept. Go is an open game don't let it be confined in books and what people say, even now it's evolving.

But really go is about the mind, which encompasses strategy to your feelings to your philosophy. It's better to play the game, over and over playing stronger people at go servers like kgs or igs. www.gokgs.com

I dont go on go servers lately because of life but for kgs.. Search for AznShyBoi, and i'll be happy to give a few pointers.

And if your dan and such... ignore everything, there are good high level books in other countries :] japan.. korea... china...

I'm only 6-7k but i teach basics and basic concept, if teachers go seach american go association on a search engine. That or go online at kgs or igs, or smaller servers with a small community like www.igo.cc/club/enter-e.php
