What are some good boy names that mean "dark"?

I am currently writing a story and I need a good boy name that means dark or something of the sort.

I'd prefer it not to be a too evil sounding of a name. I've tried looking up some names but I can't seem to like any of them.

The Irish name Ciaran means "little dark one" or "little black one."  It is also often spelled as Kieran for a slightly more modern look.  Either would work well in a story; they're distinctive, but not too strange, and they definitely don't sound evil.

Some other possibilities:

Blake -- can mean either black or pale

Doyle -- dark stranger

Duncan -- brown warrior

Donovan -- little dark brown one

Lindsay -- may mean dark lake

Duane -- little and dark

Melanchthon -- black earth (could work as a last name)

Nigel -- black
