  1. Do you mean like when my husband tells me he appreciates everything I do for him?


  2.   Compliments that are 'deeper' not superficial, make the most lasting impressions.  For example, any comment about appearance or belongings, would be nice - but not memorable.  If you were to comment about someone's personality or achievements, and be sincere - that person would never forget.
